Karen Grier

–

Riverside, Ohio

Karen Lorraine “Kiki” Grier, 62, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 7, 2025, in the home she shared with her lifelong husband, Nathaniel. She was born on March 26, 1963, in Hartford, Connecticut, the daughter of Jasper and Mary Jenkins.

Karen was a vibrant, free-spirited, and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a chef and a veteran who also devoted her time to volunteering with SISCA. Karen and Nate found love in Lubbock, Texas, while attending Texas Tech University. After they married, they both joined the U.S. Air Force, which allowed them to see many parts of the world together — including the Philippines.

She brought two beautiful daughters into the world and devoted herself fully to motherhood. She spent almost 40 years deeply loving and faithfully standing by her husband, Nate.

In late 2022, Karen was diagnosed with Stage IV esophageal cancer. She fought courageously for nearly three years. Even in the most challenging times, she showed unwavering strength and resilience.

Karen is survived by her husband, Nathaniel “Nate” Grier; daughters, Chelsi (Daniel) Harper and Summer Grier; six grandchildren — Ellie, Malia, Chandler, Jordyn, Jaelyn, and Lauryn; her brother, David Jenkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Jenkins.

She deeply understood the gift of family and believed in its power to heal, unite, and endure. More than anything, she hoped to leave behind a legacy of bridges — connections built on love, understanding, and resilience.

A private family memorial will be held at Ocean Beach in Connecticut in the spring. Karen’s final wish was to return to the ocean so her spirit could fly freely.
